My post won't be very long or detailed, I just have a question for my own personal knowlege. I don't know as much as I would like to know about type, specifically examples of interesting type (such as post typography). I just wanted to ask if any of you are aware of good books, websites, magazines, ect. that you find helpful or interesting when it comes to type.

Hey Laura I am just posting to tell you that our very own library has a few recent books on type. Also things like print magazine, or communication Arts, as Naomi said, have some gread examples of not only great type but design as well. I would suggest you frequent them if possible.

Laura, most design magazines (that I have read or looked at, at least) have an article(s) about type. I find myself at Schuler Books and Music, or Barns and Noble just looking through the design magazines to find out what possibilities there are out there.

If your looking for applied type check out

adsoftheworld.com

They always have interesting type solutions and it's advertising from all over the world. Very cool. It's how I start my day.

I'm posting late, but to get back to your question, I am not to familiar with any books in paticular. However I do know some people you can talk to. Our very own Jason Alger, a Mrs. Jill Overmyer, and of course Mrs. Suzanne Jonkman.

Type inspirations are all around you. There are many magazines other than graphic design publications that use type in exciting ways. I find my self looking for inspiration in the "real world." Billboards, busses, storefronts, etc.

I would have to say exploring on your own is the way to go. Certainly there is an almost endless amount of information on type out there. First you need to determine what specifically you need help on, then research what books, websites, etc. may help you.

I tend to find some cool sites from links that designers have on their websites. Many well established designers have a decent amount of links to other designers that they like or have collaborated with. I might take a little digging but I have found some great work this way.
