How to Design a Font

If anyone has heard of or seen GoMediaZine and their artwork then they know that they're pretty diverse in what they can do. They offer a handful of great tutorials for designers, a blog to follow, freebies (brushes, textures, vectors) and then of course they have huge packs of fantastic vectors for Illustrator that one can only dream about creating on their own. So anyway, they've posted a tutorial (a little while ago now) but I thought that if anyone was interested they could check it out. I personally have not yet, but plan on it since I've viewed their other tutorials and have been very pleased with the detail and in depth look they give to things.
Enjoy.

Spicy Type

While cruising the Dieline I managed upon this little nugget. . . it's a little package design oriented, but the final type display is appreciable in itself.

I thought it was a nice transformation from a less than intriguing package to one of those jump-off-the-shelf sort of pieces. The type was really appealing as well, when it came to the final re-vamped product. I'm pretty partial to package design, as I'm sure most of us are, and it would probably be one of those products I pull of the shelf and buy just because I like the type treatment and it's unique little packaging.

Either way, it's a very nice 360 from the original package and type.

Threadless Text Challenge

Up for a design challenge?
Following two successful runs within the community, and through the tireless efforts of users martiandrivein and staffell, we’re now proud to fully support the third installment of... The Joy Of Text! Your challenge is to create and manipulate text in a way that it becomes the design, rather than just being a part of it.

Your awesome textual design could net you an opportunity to design two upcoming TypeTees, a Wacom Intuous Tablet, some great Blik gear, a huge lot of Stop Smiling magazines, AND a wealth of community donated items!!

If you have something to say… DESIGN IT!
